TEACHERS SECTION
EXPECTED OUTCOMES
1. Students will be able to recollect the 6 types of freedoms available to them under the Indian
Constitution
2. Students will be able to analyze the importance of freedoms available to them
3. Students will learn to solve one problem using 6 different perspectives based on the type of freedom
they get to choose
STEPS FOR THE ACTVITY
1. List out the 6 types of freedoms provided to the citizens under the Constitution of India
2. Display the picture to the students (as per their Grades)
3. Explain the activity in brief to the students that they need to think about the problems shown in the
picture cards and need to express their solutions using one type of freedom out of the 6 different types
of freedoms. The freedom will be selected from the ‘Freedom Chits’.
4. Divide the class into 6 groups, and ask each group to select one chit out of 6 different chits for different
types of freedoms. The groups will solve the problem using the type of freedom available to them. For
e.g. if one group has chosen the ‘Freedom of Expression’ chit, then that group can solve the problem
through role plays, art and craft, dance, song etc.
5. Alternatively you could also group them by playing ‘Passing the parcel’. Here, pass the parcel among
the students who have been made to sit/stand in a circle, as the music plays. Have six chits for six types
of freedoms in a cup or a bowl. When the music stops, check which student is holding the parcel. Call
that student to pick up the chit. Allot one corner for each type of freedom. Ask the student who picked
the chit to stand in the respective corner. Keep this chit away and continue passing the parcel with the
music on, till five more students pick up five more types of freedoms. Eliminate one freedom chit every
time. Reintroduce all the chits in the seventh round of passing the parcel and continue sending
students to different corners based on the chits they pick up.
6. Give 30 minutes for the groups to come up with a solution to the problem using the type of freedom
available to them.
7. Ask the groups to make their presentations. Appreciate and applaud the work and the solutions
provided by each group. Encourage by providing tips whenever the groups seem to be stuck with the
presentations. Share these solutions with DA.
