Discuss the following –
1. Why do we like these products/brands?
2. How did they come to India?
3. Who gave them permission to do business in our country?
4. Do you know any product manufactured in India that gets exported to other countries? (Answer – Tata
motors, Reliance industries, CCD, Micromax, Intex, Royal Enfield etc.)
Think about this global scenario –
• Who decides to select the products and services for import and export for our country? (Political
representatives/Ministers)
• What are the benefits of imported items and services to our social life? (Fulfil our daily requirement, Social
status symbol, satisfy desires)
• What is the impact of trade (Export and Import) on our country’s economy?
• Have you come across the term ‘EXIM Bank’? What does it do? (Ask the students to gather information for
the same)
Debrief
Summarise the discussion with the importance of interdependence in the world. How are these products and services
related to our social life? How do political representatives take decisions on trade agreements with other countries?
Ask students to prepare for the following task to understand the same with their own experience.

Task for the students –
1. Select any country for representation, research on its available resources and famous products
2. Class-wise, students need to select some product which they think is most important, useful and powerful in
today’s life. (It can be imaginary or real)
3. Give it a brand name and write the description or unique features of the product, select a price for the same and
make a marketing plan with the help of following points –
a. Which country you want to sell/export your product to, and why?
b. Target group/beneficiaries in that particular country
c. How this product is unique?
d. List down the benefits of exporting this product for your country (socio, economic and political benefits)
