Freedoms available to us & Government
Overview
For October, the month in which we celebrate Gandhi Jayanti, we have designed our ACTIZEN club activities to honour Mahatma Gandhi, our beloved leader, his struggle for India’s freedom and his vision for India. As future citizens, our children need to reflect on that ‘freedom’, what exactly does freedom mean, the freedoms that our Constitution gives us, why do they exist, and most importantly, how can we exercise our freedom to make our life, our community, and our nation, a better place to live in. Our theme for October is ‘Freedoms available to us and Government,’ and our team as always put its ‘Thinking Cap’ and designed some activities to develop the problem-solving skills of students by challenging them with civic issues and making them think like Alert, Informed and Active Citizens.
- In classroom activity – In this activity we suggest our ACTIZENs to play a game ‘Save your City’ – DA’s take on the game ‘Bombing the Cities’ in which students will be explored with current issues and civic problems of cities and act as a problem solver on their way.
- School level activity – To act further, it is most important for our students to turn into problem solvers by using only one freedom out of the six available to them under the Constitution and express their unique ideas.
- Community engagement and Research-based activity – This time we have an elaborate activity to explore and implement the different layers of governance and would like our students to know their local self-government and its functioning better by combining our Community Level Activity and Research Activity.
