Introduction -

In the previous session students were given homework to conduct a small survey when spreading awareness regarding the issues arising after festivals. This activity gave an opportunity to explore the issue in context of local context. With help of the survey findings, we then move forward to next steps in our journey of being engaged active citizen. In this activity we will now, make use of these survey findings to compile a report in today’s session. Once the report is ready, we then move forward to address the issue and survey findings to local government office relevant to take the redressal of the issue forward.

Note: Steps 1 to 5 have been completed in the previous session 1 in December, we continue from step 6 today.

Step 6:  Survey Compilation and Report Making.

1. Ask students to sit in their own groups and discuss with each other survey findings. Each group will write the survey findings and workable solutions on chart paper,

2. To compile the survey, write the survey questions again on a rough sheet and ask groups to mention findings under each question for compilation.

Previous Session’s Survey Questions are given below for reference:

  • What other issues have they faced/noticed in this related theme?
  • What actions can they take to help spread awareness on this issue?
  • What actions will they follow to help solve this issue?
  • Mention any other issues related to citizenship in general that they have seen or faced.

3. With the help of rough sheet, they will identify the common points and noteworthy insights. Then, they will compile their survey findings on one side of chart paper to make a report.

4. Also, each group will discuss and come out with workable solutions (at least 2-3 solutions and maximum 7-8 solutions) for the issues in their neighbourhood. They will note down the solutions on the other side of chart paper. They can also add any other important aspect in their report basis their surveys. The report can include-

  • Theme selected
  • What kind of awareness packs were distributed?
  • Number of Surveys conducted by the group
  • Basis the findings List Issues identified in the survey
  • Workable solutions to the issues according to the group where the group need support from local government
  • Signatures of the group members

5. Each group will submit their report (chart paper) to the teacher. This report will be used in the upcoming sessions for next steps forward in this Activity.

Step 7:
