January Activity-MY CITIZENSHIP DUTY

MATERIAL REQUIRED
Notebooks and pens, cello tapes (optional as per need)
PRE-ACTIVITY PREPARATION
Note: Kindly complete the Dec session (if not done yet) before continuing with this session
- Ask office bearers to remind students 2 days before the class to do the Homework assigned in previous activity. (Homework - Research about selected issue in newspaper, observing what steps in their localities they see are taken to solve this and verify with parent/any other elder in the family the responses of four questions worked in class.
- Office Bearers to prepare for the conclusion of the activity.
MAIN ACTIVITY
- Teacher says, “In the previous session we had started our journey to explore the issue of state as a group, then researched it further at home task in discussion with elders i.e., parent/family members. In today’s session we will create a presentation to spread awareness about the identified issues at state to other grades.
- Students will compile the findings of the group in the presentation format on available notebook pages covering the following -
- Highlighting the state issue selected (write about reasons, observations, who is responsible, etc)
- Initiatives and solutions already adopted by government – highlight relevant newspaper articles, observations done by group.
- Suggest other solutions to solve the issue.
- Total number of people surveyed & their signatures (Collage of evidence of signatures taken on paper – optional)
- Give 20-25 minutes to make the presentation.
- Office Bearers will put the group work on Desh Apnayen Wall on rotation/voluntary basis.
Note – Each group to present their presentations in break time to other students to bring awareness in them. (Atleast 5 other students) (Optional)
CONCLUDE THE ACTIVITY
NOTE - If time permits, teacher can give Office Bearer opportunity to conclude this activity as mentioned below. Incase if time is short, invite the office bearer to ask the students – What did they learn from the activity?
Office Bearer will ask group members in pairs to create an awareness slogan for the selected issue of the group. They can be simple rhyming one liners (even local language is acceptable) that bring attention to solving the issue.
Teacher will again summarize the key points for recap
- As engaged citizens, we should be alert about the issues at state level, be informed about the actions taken at state and local level to solve it and take action and steps to contribute to make positive difference in solving it.

POINTS TO NOTE (DO’S AND DON'TS OF ACTIVITY)
- Ask students to not focus on decorating the presentation but the content. Keep it simple and fact based.
